Takashima and Hashima Coalmines Wages Raised 10 Percent

 A decision was made to increase daily wages across the board by 10 percent at both the Takashima and Hashima Coalmines starting on July 1. It was announced that staff members earning less than 100 yen per month would also receive a 10 percent increase.

Wages to be Increased by 10 Percent at

Takashima and Hashima Coalmines

 

Beginning on July 1, daily wages for laborers at the Takashima and Hashima Coalmines located in Nishi-Sonogi District will be increased across the board by 10 percent. It was also announced that staff members at the two mines who earn less than 100 yen per month will also receive a 10 percent increase in pay. The normally stoic residents of the island were elated with the good news.
