Regarding Hashima, so-called Gunkanjima and one of “Japan’s Meiji Industrial Revolution” UNESCO World Heritage sites, some Korean workers who were working there during World War II, allege that “It was a place impossible for humans to live in.” or “If hell actually existed, I believed this was the place.” However, the former Hashima Islanders who lived there many decades raise questions about such allegations.
